Material Philosophy
Atelier Nué is the practice of Danish designer and artist Benedicte Maria, whose work explores artworks that engage more than vision alone—works that speak to memory, tactility and presence.
Working with soft, natural materials is a conscious choice. Leather, wool, linen and silk are selected not only for their visual qualities, but for their tactility, scent and ability to respond to light. Together, they create a quieter, warmer relationship between the artwork, the space and the viewer.
Benedicte Maria creates works that are intended not only to be seen, but to be experienced through the senses. Soft surfaces, the scent of leather and natural fibres, and the tactile qualities of the materials invite a slower pace of observation, encouraging a more physical and contemplative encounter with each piece.
Each material contributes its own sensory character. Leather carries a natural scent. Wool softens sound. Linen reflects light differently throughout the day, while silk moves gently with the air, adding a quiet sense of poetry. Together, these materials bring warmth, depth and subtle acoustic qualities to a space, fostering a calm and enduring connection with nature.
