Atelier Nué is the practice of Danish designer and artist Benedicte Maria, based in Aarhus, Denmark.

Working across art, design and textile artworks, she creates tactile works that explore the relationship between material, form, body, space and the viewer. Using natural materials such as leather, wool, linen and silk, each piece explores how soft materials can hold structure, presence and quiet strength, creating poetic and serene experiences through material.

Her work moves between textile, sculpture and surface, shaped through stitching, layering and material tension. Every piece is created from a fascination with tactility, weight and the subtle character that develops
as natural materials age over time, inviting slow observation and quiet reflection.

With a background in graphic design, and having worked with sewing, textiles and materials since the age of nine, Benedicte combines a graphic sense of simplicity with a lifelong fascination for fashion, craftsmanship and tactile surfaces. She approaches making as a meditative practice, shaped by repetition, patience and close attention. Every piece evolves through experimentation, adjustment and refinement, allowing the material itself to guide the process.

Materials are carefully sourced over time, including surplus leather, reclaimed hides and natural textiles,
each selected for its unique character and the way it ages over time.

Each artwork is designed and handcrafted in her studio in Aarhus. Her work has been commissioned and collected by private collectors, interior designers and architects internationally, and is currently available through Opame Collective in Chicago and Atelier 024 in Australia.

Her works have been installed across Europe, Australia and the United States.

Her work has been featured in Vogue Living Australia, Ark Journal, RUM International, Bo Bedre and Costume Living.
